HOPE BUILDS A BETTER-EDUCATED WORKFORCE, INVESTS IN GEORGIA’S ECONOMIC FUTURE

Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally (HOPE) has provided more than $7 billion of financial assistance for educational programs beyond high school. The legislation for this program was scripted in 1992 under the supervision of Gov. Zell Miller and launched a year later.

Funded by the Georgia Lottery for Education and consisting of six different aid programs, this unique initiative has helped more than 1.75 million students at eligible state public and private universities and public technical schools obtain higher education. For more information on the HOPE Scholarship visit the Georgia Student Finance Commission website HERE.

Emory University scholars and experts generate more than $572 million in research funding annually, while also maintaining a traditional emphasis on teaching. Emory Healthcare, part of the university’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center, has been at the forefront of medicine putting research into lifesaving action. Oxford College at Emory in Newton County, Ga., will feature a new science building in 2016 that will promote collaboration and includes 12 laboratories, an imaging center and more.

MSM’s faculty and alumni are noted in their fields for excellence in teaching, research and public policy. The National Center for Primary Care of MSM serves as a national resource in promoting the value of primary care medicine and encouraging doctors to pursue primary care careers. It conducts practice-based research to improve health outcomes; creates protocols and tools for improving primary care effectiveness; and undertakes public policy analyses focused on making primary care services more accessible and effective.

Clayton State’s College of Health, Health Sciences program is an interdisciplinary program that prepares graduates for professional careers in health services or to pursue a graduate degree program in fields such as health care administration and health education. Students will gain broad skills in research, healthcare delivery, health promotion, disease prevention and management, and ethical, legal, and cultural issues related to the health field.  Graduates have employment opportunities in hospitals, public health agencies, insurance companies, community organizations, research laboratories, wellness centers, and the pharmaceutical industry.

The Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology at Kennesaw State University produces graduates ready to find solutions to today’s real-world problems and tomorrow’s challenges. It is the second largest engineering college in Georgia offering a state-of-the-art LEED-certified Engineering Technology Center with fluid mechanics, metrology, electromagnetic, automotive, biomedical and computer-integrated manufacturing laboratories. Southern Polytechnic’s academic degree program in mechatronics is one of only nine such academic degree programs in the nation and its systems engineering program is one of only two undergraduate programs in the state. Student engineering teams rank among the nation’s engineering elite at national competitions.
